REACHING THE EDGE
Walking along
And missed my turn
As I soon learned
And coming to the end
When reaching the edge
Of the cliff and ridge
And nowhere did I notice a bridge
But rather slipped and fell
Due to not seeing the ledge
With no sign, up ahead
And no way to keep from falling
When the end of the line
Comes calling and crawling
Towards my immediate view
Yet with no clear line of sight
Despite all the clues
As I almost tasted the bite
With no chance of a real fight
Regretting every step
That was taken here
And my way of escape
Doesn’t seem very clear
Must be careful to not tread
Anywhere close to the edge
Where writing comes alive
