Taught Not Born

Not born with hate
Residing in the heart and mind
And never to late
To switch sides
The path we’re on
We need not continue it
The only thing it has done
Is create so many issues
That has proved difficult to fix
Children can play with each other
And not think twice
Hug one another
Smile and be nice
Skin tone is not an issue
Among the little ones
They just see someone like themselves
Continue to play and have fun
Racism is a disease
That has become an epidemic
Time to cure and release
Instead of continuing to mimic
We are taught hatred
Not born with it
Let it be known and said
Unclench the fists
Look to the children
On human interaction
Notice how tried and true
Through watching them
Disregarding hate
And learn a thing or two
