Against the Mirror

AGAINST THE MIRROR

Look in the mirror

Tell me what you see

Are you truly the person?

You want to be

Masquerading around

Under a false identity

When you truly are

Your own worst enemy

But seems easier than being

Your own truest friend

Coming back to the mirror

Having to start all over again

Feeling stuck in repeat

With nothing in sight

Thinking you’re alright

Yet you trip over your own feet

Holding yourself back

Which causes you to lack

The very things that will

One day make you happy

Not something that can be cured

By taking a pill

Because the reflection you see

Is one that should

Be proud to be

With self-fulfillment as the key
